Caravan for Inclusive Education in Senegal

Inclusive Education, which is an innovative approach, aims at satisfying needs of learning for everybody,(children, young people and adults), in particular those who are exposed at the risk of marginalization and exclusion.

In Senegal, as in most African countries, Inclusive Education still has not known significant headways, It has even been slightly taken into account in the statistics of the Program.

A program of Inclusive and Quality Education in 5 schools of the suburb of Dakar (Pikine, Thiaroye, Guédiawaye, Rufisque municipality, Rufisque Departement) introduced by COSYDEP in partnership with Save the Children Sweden and the Community of Madrid was thus set up to improve that situation.

So the big challenge remains the identification and the localization of these children with special educational needs to intervene better in their coverage.

Within the framework of this program, the teachers are trained, but days of raising awareness and campaigns are also organized. It is thus that the Caravan of Inclusive Education was organized on Wednesday October the 26th, 2011 from 3 pm to 6 pm with the parliament of children, the Eucation Inclusive clubs, the national members of parliament, the actors of the Civil Society. The caravan went from Rts by way of the City hall of Dakar, the Prefecture of Dakar, the Senat, the Ministry of education and ended at the National Assembly.
